The ‘Thread’ installation for the Common Ground Project, 3ByLAND, embraces both history, and site, in the spirit of the rare Charitable Research Reserve.

The intervention takes inspiration from sinuous wheat fields and the community’s industrial heritage. Referencing the local textile industry that made the region famous, the installation’s mix of materials and location come together in a dynamic display of flowing strips of fabric. An interactive display envelops the visitor as if walking through a wheat field shimmering in the sunlight, with wisps of wheat brushing their fingertips.

Located adjacent to what is now known as the ECO Centre, an iconic European-inspired slit barn on the historic rare Charitable Research Reserve, the installation is an unexpected piece of art along a country road.
